I was already doing this before airports DLC but that made it much worse since an airport can easily take up 1/4 to 1 area tile. I did this mainly because the cities I wanted to build required me to zone a bunch of high density residential in my industrial areas to reach the population milestones. I'm on console and after the release of airports DLC I started going up to Big Town milestone normally then switching to milestones unlocked (I've never had an issue with money).

I've built 15+ cities following a normal budget and progression. I still hangout here on this sub because I love seeing new mods and screenshots of gorgeous cities which I do not have the patience to create. ) So there's no more gameplay challenge left for me, but infinite creative possibilities in terms of creating aesthetically different, unique and fun cities. (In terms of how challenging traffic management is, once it's done. I've stopped playing drastically over the years.ĭon't get me wrong building efficient traffic collectors and roundabouts are fun, but it loses its challenge quickly. I really am looking forward to Cities Skylines 2.

I build cities to manage traffic really well, but aside from that, policies, managing your city? LOL What a joke. It's honestly more of an aesthetic game for me at this point. Later, I would start with infinite money and once my city was a decent size I'd revert back. Building your first "profit city" only to destroy it later when you unlocked everything. But after you've sunk a couple hundreds hours, it gets really repetitive. Reminds me of the good old simcity 4 days.

Like someone else mentioned I enjoyed the challenge, it's more like playing an organic city builder + manager game this way. I used to play vanilla with finite money. Have suggestions for the sidebar / topbar? Mail the mods!
